The children´s choir


The children´s choir Skřivánek was founded in 1986 upon the request of the Department of Education Council of Jablonec nad Nisou. Mrs. Věra Pokorná, a pre-school teacher, was charged with leading the choir. The members of the Skřivánek choir are pre-school children, and their repertoire is made of folk tunes and “composed” songs suitable for their age.

Since its founding, the choir has had numerous performances at various cultural events, benefit concerts, festivals and shows. The children´s choir has starred on radio and television programs, and performed at the Villa Bertramka, Křižík´s fountain, the Congress Centre, the Ungelt theatre, Smetana´s hall in the Municipal House in Prague, along with others. The choir has participated in concerts of famous artists, like Edita Randova, Jaroslav Svěcený, Radka Fišarová and others. Skřivánek has also represented the Czech Republic abroad in Italy, Germany, Croatia, Spain, France and in Vienna at the World Christmas Festival.

The children´s choir Skřivánek organises many musical events including The Song of Jablonec (Janlonecká písnička), Christmas with Skřivánek, Farewell Program for School Children, and Bouquet of Songs. It has recently recorded its second CD and the choir is highly regarded by a wide public audience including music experts.
